’Think Local Act Personal’ is driving change to offer greater choice and control to people with personal budgets, putting personalised services and outcomes centre stage. PCT’s and local authorities must make sure that people have the greatest possible choice of services available to them but are often not aware of the many small businesses, community organisations, groups and charities operating in their area that are already making a difference to people’s lives.

In just three months we can provide local authorities and PCTs with a detailed ‘map’ of local micro-providers. Once identified, Community Catalysts engages with the providers, gaining further information about their service and the resources that they need to flourish. This simple approach dramatically increases the choices people haveand at the same time produces a lasting legacy.

Community Catalysts identifies these micro providers through a detailed analysis of lists and contracts held by the local authority and other organisations, but also by talking to individuals and groups to uncover providers.

Once the full range of micro providers have been identified Community Catalysts will compile detailed information including: particulars of the organisation (its structure and who works for it), what the service does, how to make contact, the value that people using the service place on it, what other services they could provide, and which organisations the provider is linked to.

This detailed information builds up into a valuable and comprehensive map of micro providers within the locality.

The next step is to engage with the providers themselves.

Community Catalyst makes contact with the providers and spends time building a trusting relationship – finding out more about them and the service they offer.

Community Catalysts gives them information about the way care is changing, the commitment to transforming adult social care, and explores with them how they can play a part.

Finally Community Catalysts works to bring together the micro providers and Local Authorities and PCTs, helping them to understand each other and providing a source of support and help.
