Ian read economics at university and following graduation qualified as an accountant. After working for a number of local authorities he was appointed as Director of Finance at Wirral Council in 1997. Wirral is the eighth largest metropolitan council in England and there are 900 employees in the Finance Department.
Connected with his full time employment he is on the executive committee of the Society of Municipal Treasurers. He chairs a national working party on Financial Management and Corporate Governance, and sits on a Government working party on the future of pensions.
Ian became involved with Shared Lives Plus when it was in need of some strategic financial advice to complement the existing book keeping. He had experience in a number of areas which could possibly benefit Shared Lives Plus including Social Services finances, and negotiating with Government departments. With the formation of Community Catalysts he again hopes that some of his previous experience will be beneficial.
Outside of work Ian enjoys hill-walking, travel, and following sport. He is a member of the National Trust, 41 Club (former Round Table) and is on the Finance and Property Committee of the local church.
