about us

The four UK governments are keen to ensure that people can access personalised care and health services and direct their own care and support. In England a central strategy is to give people a personal budget but for this to work properly people need a range of different services and supports to choose from. In our experience when people are given choice and control they get the help that they need in ways that are imaginative, use common sense, harness the help of friends and family (that often comes for free) and rarely stay in ‘social care’ or ‘health’ boxes. In essence people want lives and not services and they look locally for individuals, organisations and communities to deliver the help they need to get the life they want.
Small social care and support enterprises established and managed by local people are in a good position to deliver services that support people to live full lives and are vital elements of a diverse market.
Community Catalysts uses skills, knowledge and experience built up by NAAPS over many years to work with local authorities, PCTS and other organisations to stimulate and support the development of high quality, imaginative, local and very personal services. In this way it works to ensure that people with personal budgets and people who buy support from their own money have real choice of great local services that they can use to help them live the life they choose.
