Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas from us Community Catalysts

Happy Birthday to us

This year we reached our 10th birthday. 10 years since we took the plunge and established a Social Enterprise to capture the power of community and increase the choice of options for people who need care and support to live their lives.

A lot has happened in those 10 years. Projects, partnerships, networks, initiatives, events and lots and lots of blinking hard work.

We have worked with so many inspiring people and organisations and seen first-hand what folks can achieve when they set their minds to it. Our early vision of helping local people to help other local people is now a firm reality.

Much to our astonishment (and relief) we still have almost the same amazing core team, but now working alongside a gang of excellent new colleagues.

We like to think we have made a real and lasting difference to the lives of many 100s of people and that will be the thing that fuels our passion into the future. If you have played a part in our journey and success – too many people to name but you know who you are – a huge thank you. Here’s to another 10 years…at least!

Celebration calendar

As a celebration of our birthday and a nod to Christmas we have produced a calendar sharing photos of some of our key milestones and achievements. Gathering the photos, reconnecting with people from projects past gave us a lovely opportunity to trot down memory lane. Hopefully most of you reading this will have received a calendar through the post…or one is winging its way as we speak.

Making it Real

Last week us Catalysts gathered for our annual meet up – a lovely day full of team, learning, sharing, laughing and of course Christmassing. Lots of established colleagues catching up and lots of connecting with new people who have recently joined the team – a couple haven’t even started work yet – which shows definite dedication.

A big focus of the gathering was Making it Real and in particular the commitment made by Community Catalysts earlier in the year to make Making it Real…real in our practice and the practice of the people and enterprises we support.

We spent time working through the ‘I Statements’, reflecting on our current practice and thinking about how to make it real. We made pledges to underpin our future work and then recorded them.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you

Finally, from all of us to all of you, we hope that everyone has a lovely Christmas or other holiday.

A big thanks for all your help and support in 2019 and over the 10 years we been around and here’s to the best 2020.
