New Project circle in green

Life in Colour – an exciting new co-production project with Borough Care

24 August 2020 · Categories: Innovators Learn

Borough Care, a not for profit organisation, is the largest provider of care for older people in Stockport, operating eleven specialist care homes. It offers residential and day care, as well as ‘Active Recovery’ and short-stay respite services. Borough Care is dedicated to providing high quality, personalised care which does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Their ethos is to help residents and their families to live ‘Life in Colour’.

Borough Care and Community Catalysts are excited to be starting a new 3-year partnership project to ensure that residents and their families have a direct input into how services are designed and run. We will work together to find creative ways to engage and consult with people to develop ideas and suggestions for the way Borough Care operates.

At Borough Care we are determined to take our commitment to Life in Colour even further – doing everything we can to make sure that each and every resident is able to live in a way, which reflects who they are: their unique experiences; their abilities; and their hopes and dreams. This commitment runs through everything that we do, and we are pleased to announce a new, ground-breaking project, which will help us do better still.

Isla Wilson – Borough Care Chair

This project was initially due to launch early in 2020 but was put on hold through lockdown. Throughout these challenging few months Borough Care residents and families have really got to grips with new technology – sharing their views with enthusiasm. In order to get started as soon a possible and to capitalise on this momentum the project will, initially at least, make use of technology and virtual working.

We have created a new, part-time project role for someone with a deep personal connection to dementia, care and ageing. The post holder will be supported by Community Catalysts so that they can work closely with residents and their families to develop ideas and suggestions as well as giving feedback on what Borough Care does now, and what people think it should do in future.

The residents and family members involved will be able to communicate directly to the board, to ensure that their input informs our strategy. We are excited to be developing ways to work even more closely with the people we serve and be even more connected to our community.

Mark Ward – Borough Care CEO

We believe this project is ground-breaking and Community Catalysts are so excited to be working with Borough Care and the people it supports to learn, create, and develop new ways of working together.
