Exciting new community enterprise project in Wrexham

1 February 2021 · Categories: Communities Care, Wales

Older couple laughingCommunity Catalysts are excited to be working with Wrexham County Council and other local partners on the community enterprise project which runs from December 2020 for just under 2 years.

Wrexham has been a hub of entrepreneurship, creativity and industry over the years. Community Catalysts will build on this as part of the community enterprise project which will work with local people who want to develop small community enterprises and ventures offering a wide range of help and support for older and disabled people at home and in the community.

As well as helping people to set up new community enterprises, Community Catalysts will also be able to advise small groups and organisations already established in Wrexham and looking to diversify or extend what they offer. Helping local people to help other local people.

We are so pleased to be working with Community Catalysts in developing sustainable , local enterprises able to respond to the needs of our older and disabled citizens. As well as enabling us to meet local demand, the programme will harness a new type of social care workforce providing additional work opportunities for people-working in a way that suits them and their family at these challenging times. The free support from Community Catalysts will help budding entrepreneurs to understand how to provide the best care and support that they can. Win Win for all!

To help realise this vision, we will try hard to build on things that already work well and to value and nurture people, groups and organisations with strong local knowledge and expertise. The project aims to capture learning and actively use this to affect local system and culture change – working in partnership to improve the way that health and care works for people in Wrexham.

Never more than now have people needed opportunities to generate their own income and deliver the much needed support in our communities.  We look to help local people unleash their creativity and passion to support more people in the community.

Tom Hughes has been employed as the local Catalyst to lead the project across Wrexham and can be contacted on tom.hughes@communitycatalysts.co.uk or  07880 195114.  You can also follow local developments on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ComCatsWrexham and Twitter https://twitter.com/CommCatsWrexham
