Exciting new community enterprise project in Worcestershire

27 June 2022 · Categories: Communities Care

Community Catalysts is working with Worcestershire County Council and other local partners on a new community enterprise project which started in May 2022 and will run for 2 years.

Community Catalysts will build on local people’s strengths, supporting them to start up their own community enterprises that help older and disabled people in the area. Never more than now have people needed opportunities to generate their own income and deliver the much-needed support in our communities.  We look to help local people unleash their creativity and passion to support more people in the community – helping local people to help other local people.

We will work with local people across Worcestershire who want to develop small enterprises offering a wide range of help, support and activities for older and disabled people at home or in their local community.

As well as helping people to set up new enterprises, we can also advise individuals, small groups and organisations already established in Worcestershire who may be looking to diversify or extend what they offer.

We will build on things that already work well as we value and nurture people, groups and organisations with strong local knowledge and expertise. The project aims to capture learning and actively use this to affect local system and culture change – working in partnership to improve the way that support works for older and disabled people in Worcestershire.

Worcestershire County Council are pleased to be working with Community Catalysts to develop micro-enterprises/small businesses within the County…[to] provide even more choice and flexibility for people…The micro-enterprises will support people to live the best life they can [and] will create further job opportunities across Worcestershire, including in rural communities.

Launa Brooks has been employed as the local Catalyst to lead the project in Worcestershire.

I really believe in the power of people supporting people to make a difference locally. I am excited to be a Catalyst for change in Worcestershire (my home county) and look forward to seeing community micro-enterprises grow and flourish, supporting older and disabled people here to really experience their best life.
