People doing it for themselves development phase report

This report relates to the first phase of the ‘people doing it for themselves’ project. It aims to share the key findings, learnings and the stories of ‘people doing it for themselves’.

It is an important output in its own right, which can be used to inform policy and practice and hopefully inspire people. It will also be used to help develop the second phase of the work, if the project is successful and receives additional funding. The second phase of the work will include testing what we have learned, working closely with influencers, policy makers, local public sector bodies, voluntary and community  organisations and local people to create the conditions to help more people do it for themselves.

There is also an easy read version of the document available here. This report should be read in conjunction with the 19 detailed stories from the people and groups involved in the project.
