Embracing Community: An exciting new partnership between Community Catalysts and Camphill Village Trust

Community Catalysts is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new project based on a partnership between ourselves and Camphill Village Trust (CVT). Camphill Village Trust is a leading, long established and progressive UK charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems and other support needs. The project is called Embracing Community and is based at Botton Village which is in Danby Dale in the North York Moors National Park. Founded in 1955 Botton was the first Camphill centre to offer opportunities to adults with learning disabilities.

Embracing Community will build on the excellent work already underway at Botton. Community Catalysts will employ a Community Connector who will be based at Botton Village and will support the people living and working there and those living in nearby villages and the wider surrounding area to identify local needs, agree priorities for action and ways to meet those priorities. The project will foster coproduction, creativity and connection, bringing people and resources together to address pressing local issues. It will enable people living in Botton Village to develop new and rich community connections and to use their own gifts and skills to contribute to people living in the communities around them. In the process we believe that Botton Village can provide a strategic resource for a local authority attempting to tackle some of the intransigent issues faced by people in those communities such as loneliness and isolation and limited access to services.

We are recruiting now for our Community Connector who will lead the Embracing Community Project. This will be a demanding job but very exciting; unchartered and totally ground-breaking; full of challenge and a huge opportunity.

Have a look at our website and the job description and person specification for more information about us and the job. You will be employed by Community Catalysts and based at Botton Village.

If you have any specific questions contact: Jill Wighton, Director of Business Operations, jill.wighton@communitycatalysts.co.uk.

Closing date for applications is on the 30th November at 12 noon and interviews will take place at Botton Village on the 13th December.

We welcome applications from people from all sections of the community
