Focus on increasing choice for older and disabled people who need help with their personal care.

Following our 2-year successful project to support people to develop small enterprises and ventures across the whole of York City we are now offering monthly workshops to help entrepreneurs who would like to understand the practical steps required to set up their own enterprise.  These will include what are the legal and regulatory basis to operate, how to develop your “portfolio”, how to meet local quality standards and where you need to go to get help and access work opportunities.

We are also running monthly surgeries for enterprises who have completed our “Doing it Right Standards” to help them keep up to date with updates on regulation, changes to policies and procedures, refreshers on good practice and updates and news from the City of York Council.

Enjoyment and freedom are two words I’d use to describe my new working structure. I’m enjoying meeting new people and helping where I can meet their needs and the freedom to be more flexible and person centred is really helpful in this purpose.
