Alex Woolaway

Community Enterprise Catalyst (Devon)

Alex is delighted to begin his role as a Community Enterprise Catalyst and eager to assist micro-enterprises to flourish in Devon. He is passionate about people having access to person-centred, high quality and flexible support and he aims to ensure the project increases the choices available to local people where the imbalance between supply and demand currently poses a challenge.

Alex has a background as a Social Worker which developed his insight into the value of strengths-based approaches and maximising the participation of individual’s during assessment and support planning. More recently he has worked within a local authority arranging support team which has provided him with lots of experience of supporting people to design and organise their own care and support via direct payments. He is a firm believer in the concept of ‘choice and control’ and the importance of enabling people to be independent and creative when planning the support they need to achieve their goals. An essential component to this is a diverse marketplace of innovative support options and he looks forward to contributing to the development of this for the people of Devon.

Outside of work, Alex loves to explore the beautiful county of Devon; he likes to go on long walks along the coast and on the moors. Family is very important to him, and he enjoys spending quality time with those close to him.
