Harry Clarkson
Community Catalyst (Rotherham)
I have worked for a local authority – learning disability team in Yorkshire for the last 5 years. I started with the team whilst completing my Master in Research in Social Sciences – Planning and Policy.
I worked in a number of roles within the team but my work has primarily focused on accommodation, activities and transport for adults with a learning disability. As part of this role I have also completed an accredited Travel Trainer/Assessment course.
Outside of work I have volunteered at several learning disability football events, mainly associated to the Ability Counts League.
In all aspects of my work there has been a focus on enabling people to increase their independence and skills by having greater choice and opportunities and by accessing their local community.
These are objectives that I will apply to the project in Rotherham which aims to develop, support and provide new community based options and increased choice for people with a learning disability. I am very excited to have joined Community Catalysts and I hope to contribute to the brilliant work they are already doing.
