Ian read economics at university and following graduation qualified as an accountant. After working for a number of local authorities, he was Director of Finance at Wirral Council for 15 years from 1997 to 2012. The Finance Department had extensive responsibilities and employed over 1100 staff.
In 2012 Ian established a business undertaking short term consultancy projects for clients across the public and private sectors mainly dealing with financial management and pension fund management.
He chairs a professional board on Financial Management and Corporate Governance and occupies the chair of two local authority pension boards.
Ian became involved with Community Catalysts on its formation, having been involved with Shared Lives Plus and its predecessors for a number of years. He is able to offer experience in the areas of financial management, social services finance and of working with government departments.
Outside of work Ian is a member of the National Trust, 41 Club (former Round Table), and chairs the Finance and Property Committee of his local church.
