Helen is a graduate with a Masters in Applied Social Studies from Sheffield University. She has extensive experience of working in social care as a qualified social work practitioner and team manager within children’s and adult services, having started her career as a residential social worker. She has worked within Local Authority contracting and commissioning teams and is a champion of user and carer involvement in the selection of services and has worked hard to reduce the barriers that smaller providers face within the competitive process. She has experience of designing and co delivering targeted training to social care staff and managers around new ways of working and redesigned business processes and has skills in public speaking and event management.
Helen has worked with us on a number of projects including micro enterprise development in Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire and an Innovation Challenge Programme with supported housing providers in Leicestershire.
More recently she has had a regional role working with West Midlands ADASS supporting councils with implementing the Care Act and facilitating a regional Personalisation Network.
Helen joins us again in March 2017 as Project Manager to the Enterprising Communities Project, a partnership between Community Catalysts and Power to Change.
When she’s not busy working Helen can be found walking the hills in the Peak District.
