After qualifying with a degree in Psychology in 1999, I started in Health and Social Care working for the N.H.S Spring Board Centre. This work focused on disaffected young people experiencing addiction, homeless and displaying criminal behaviour. This experience led me to qualify, and work, as a teacher in 2001 and later as a Counsellor in 2004. I have worked in many settings, with a wide variety of individuals and communities. In 2007, I joined Community Action, a charity offering volunteer-led services and projects within the locality. Services and projects focused on facilitating and enabling individuals with disabilities. During my ten years as the Chief Executive, I worked with the local community, Local Authority and N.H.S to develop projects, services and enterprises to benefit the community. This developed my understanding of what it takes to develop and run a successful enterprise.
In 2018, I joined Community Catalysts, as the Herefordshire Community Catalyst, facilitating the development of microenterprises, which help to reduce isolation and loneliness, within the county. This role brings together my passion for mental health and resilience, self-empowerment, business and enterprise, communities and a person-centred approach to solutions.
