Elaine joined Community Catalysts in February 2019 as the Community Enterprise Catalyst for Leeds. The project’s focus was to help local people who wanted to develop a new enterprise to offer homecare or help at home to other local people.
Elaine has a passion and enthusiasm for supporting others and is now using her skills and experience to support a number of other Community Catalysts across the UK.
Elaine has worked in community action for over 15 years and has worked in a variety of settings, such as HMP establishments, job centres, probation offices and drug and alcohol services, all of which have required her to work with people from varying backgrounds with a mixture of social issues and challenges which include drugs and alcohol misuse, mental health issues, offending and social exclusion.
In her spare time she volunteers, enjoys reading, travelling and going to concerts. However, her passion is baking, and she makes a delicious sticky ginger cake.
