I read economics at university and, following graduation, qualified as an accountant. After working for a number of local authorities, I was Director of Finance at Wirral Council for 15 years from 1997 to 2012. The Finance Department had extensive responsibilities and employed more than 1,100 staff.
In 2012, I established a business undertaking short term consultancy projects for clients across the public and private sectors, mainly dealing with financial management and pension fund management.
I chair a professional board on Financial Management and Corporate Governance, and occupy the chair of two local authority pension boards.
I became involved with Community Catalysts on its formation, having been involved with Shared Lives Plus and its predecessors for a number of years. I am able to offer experience in the areas of financial management, social services finance and working with government departments.
Outside of work I am a member of the National Trust, 41 Club (former Round Table), and I chair the Finance and Property Committee of my local church.
