Being alongside a Local Area Coordinator – video short series

Last month, the Local Area Coordination Network (hosted by Community Catalysts) released individual video testimonies from Chris, Ashlee, Denzil, Nikki, Memuna, Walter, Molly and Lauren who passionately shared their journeys with their Local Area Coordinator alongside them.

The new video series highlights the importance of the trusting relationships formed between a person and their Local Area Coordinator, and shows the positive difference Local Area Coordination is helping to make alongside people, their families, and the wider community. More importantly, the series is a moving testimony to the indomitable power of people to achieve positive change, often in the face of adversity.

In the first video of the series, Chris shares powerful testimony of his recovery journey in which he established a successful community football group called ‘Turning Corners’…

“I honestly feel like I’ve been reborn…I’m under no illusions that if the [Local Area Coordinator] hadn’t helped me when she did I would’ve started drinking again…got onto hard drugs…and be in a dark place”

Chris
