New research reveals positive impact of Local Area Coordination

Today, new research has been released that reveals the transformative and positive impact of the Local Area Coordination approach for people, families and communities.

It’s the first ever multi-site evaluation of Local Area Coordination in England and Wales.

Key findings include:

  • The importance of putting time into relationships to build trust
  • How building connections strengthens communities
  • Local Area Coordination prevents and reduces the need for formal care
  • Local Area Coordination prevents people getting lost in the system

Since 2019, the Local Area Coordination Network of councils has worked with an NIHR-funded academic partnership to undertake the research. This has included the Universities of Hull, Sheffield, York, Exeter, and Leeds.
