Highlights from Local Area Coordination Week 2026

Earlier this month, Local Area Coordination teams up and down the country celebrated Local Area Coordination Week, giving us the chance to stop and recognise the difference that this work makes every day. It really highlighted what makes this role so unique. Across the Network, Local Area Coordinators and partners shared powerful examples of people building stronger relationships, finding practical ways through challenges, contributing to their communities, and helping shape stronger local systems. These stories show what can happen when we start with people’s strengths, invest in relationships, and work with people and communities rather than doing things to or for them.

The week ended on a high with our South of England Regional Gathering, bringing together teams from Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Luton, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Havering, and Croydon. It was a valuable chance to share learning, talk honestly about our strengths and challenges, collaborate on producing some new practice resources together, and plan ahead as we enter our next strategic period. There was real energy in the room, along with a clear determination to stay grounded in the values and principles that make this work so important.

We wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the highlights from Local Area Coordination Week with you in the PDF below, and if you’d like to find out more about the approach, please contact LACN@communitycatalysts.co.uk!
