Warrington: A Community Supporting People to Live Well with Dementia  and those who care for them

Across the borough, a wide range of local groups, services and initiatives are helping people stay connected, active and part of everyday life.

At the heart of this work is a strong and growing network of community‑based support. Warrington is home to more than 50 dementia‑friendly groups and services, offering welcoming spaces where people can meet others, build confidence and reduce isolation. From memory cafés and social groups to peer support and specialist activities, there is something happening in neighbourhoods right across the town.

People can enjoy singing groups, seated exercise, cognitive stimulation therapy and friendly dementia cafés in places such as Lymm, Penketh, Stockton Heath and Warrington town centre. These activities are about more than support — they’re about friendship, fun and making sure people living with dementia continue to feel valued and included.

Strong partnerships sit behind this work. Through the Dementia Support Forum, local organisations, voluntary groups and the council regularly come together to share information, highlight what’s available and strengthen connections across Warrington. It’s a great example of how collaboration at a community level can make a real difference.

Together, these groups are helping to ensure that people living with dementia — and the family members and carers who support them — can live well, stay connected and feel understood in their community.
