If you are supporting someone who is experiencing memory concerns, is currently on the Dementia Assessment Pathway, or has recently received a Dementia diagnosis, it can be an unsettling and uncertain time. Age UK Gloucestershire offers support from the outset, helping individuals and their families take positive next steps with greater confidence.
Who the service supports
This free, non-medical service provides personalised support for people aged 50 and over, as well as their families and carers.
Support is available for people who are:
- concerned about memory problems
- undergoing the Dementia assessment process
- awaiting a Dementia diagnosis
- recently diagnosed with Dementia or another memory-related condition within the last 12 months
- aged 50–65 and diagnosed with, or being assessed for, Young Onset Dementia
How the service supports people
The friendly team offers information, advice, guidance, and signposting to individuals, their families, and carers on a range of topics, including:
- taking the first steps in managing memory concerns
- understanding a diagnosis
- maintaining independence
- continuing in employment
- supporting health and wellbeing
- planning for the future
- exploring social care options
- accessing suitable local services and support
