Recruiting, retaining, and managing volunteers
Communities 1st are running a one-day face-to-face training course on recruiting, retaining, and managing volunteers.
Date: 17th February 2026.
Time: 10:00 – 17:00.
Venue: Communities 1st (Ver House, Park Industrial Estate, Frogmore, AL2 2WH).
Topics covered in this session will include:
- Volunteer motivation.
- Writing role descriptions.
- Writing recruitment adverts.
- Selection process.
- Induction and support.
- Volunteer supervision.
- Managing changing motivations.
- Dealing with challenging or difficult behaviour.
- Saying “goodbye”.
- Rewarding and recognising volunteers.
- The Six-Point Promise (ideal for those new to volunteer management and for organisations wishing to gain Volunteering Herts’ 6-Point Promise accreditation).
Please note that there is a charge to attend this training (as follows):
Herts based voluntary sector organisations – £70
Statutory and non-Herts based organisations – £400
