Ability Counts Adaptive Fitness

This provider has yet to add availability information.

Hi, I’m Stephen and I have been offering adaptive fitness classes for over five years.  I try bridge to difference from sport and function. More and more opportunities are available to our impaired,  lived experience community to pursue an active life but many don’t know where to start. ‘Truth is start where you are!’ I offer a unique opportunity to challenge your abilities in a supportive and community driven space. Since I was young, sport and fitness has been a constant for me and has helped me overcome the most challenging times in my life and I hope that opening up this opportunity will allow others to not only improve physical health but mental wellbeing too. Fully qualified, insured and DBS checked.

Ability Counts Adaptive Fitness provides opportunities for individuals, groups and day services to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing through functional exercises. Sessions include strength exercises using various equipment including dumbbells, resistance bands and odd objects. We improve cardiovascular fitness through the use of  bikes, rowing machines and Ski ergs. Balance is improved through core exercises and body awareness exercises.

All exercises are adapted to the individual. Wheelchair users and individuals with limited mobility are catered for by selecting a variation that meets their abilities and that allows them to challenge themselves in their own way.  Working in a small group provides accountability and community through shared experiences.  1-2-1 options available for focused support and personal attention if required.
