Art Works is a creative arts organisation and not for profit that exists to support adults and young people with learning disabilities to develop life skills and achieve their creative potential through workshops and community work and work placements supported by Art Works. We have three bases across Rotherham and Sheffield.
Art Works employs a number of artists, filmmakers, graphic designers, sculptures and we train them in care. We do workshops in art, drama, dance, filmmaking, animation, craft and textiles (to name a few) and we run weekly swim and gym sessions for those who would like to participate as well as regular walking groups. We do daily supported placements working in the gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse, looking after the greyhounds at The Retired Greyhound Trust, The Wildlife Trust, Stone Face as well as regular commissions to create Murals around South Yorkshire. We hold regular exhibitions in the past we have had exhibitions at the Millenium Gallery, Bloc Project, Sidney and Matilda. We are currently designing a series of merchandise for Wentworth Woodhouse and also for Rotherham Museums. We recently supported two service users to exhibit in London where one won the third prize which was judged and presented by Greyson Perry. Would you like to come and join us for some free taster sessions?
