Bushey Mill Resource Centre offers an individually tailored day service to adults with a learning disability/difficulty and associated disabilities. We launched in April 2012 and now have a signed contract with Hertfordshire County Council as an official provider of a day opportunities service.
Our small staff team are very highly experienced, friendly, caring and professional, and includes a registered Social Worker.
We are open weekdays between 10 – 3pm, and with our own 2 modern minibuses can offer a very wide range of activities both indoor and outdoor that are both educational and recreational.
For example, we have recently taken up yearly club membership at a local golf driving range offering various leisure facilities and in the summer months we go carriage riding on a regular basis. People using our service can also enjoy visiting a ten-pin bowling alley, country parks, museums, pubs, restaurants and many other outdoor/indoor leisure facilities.
We have a large indoors area which provide the opportunity to participate in various soft ball activities such as football, cricket, badminton or swing-ball. We also have our own Wii games console and large screen which allows users to develop, amongst other things, hand-eye co-ordination and have fun through games such as ten-pin bowling, golf and tennis.
We also offer individual and small group activities where skills and interests can be developed along with a fully equipped kitchen where cooking and food preparation can be taught and encouraged. We have professional quality amplifier and microphone facilities which have proved ever popular for those who want to sing along to song tracks.
Our grassy area at the front of the premises has proved very popular in the summer months, and the local community is accessed in order to develop shopping, travel training and mobility skills.
Please contact us for further information or to receive our leaflet/promotional video that will give you much more information about us and our services, and our centre that parents/service users are continually highly recommending. Alternatively why not come along and meet with us and our service users to see for yourself!
