During my years of working with children and adults with SEN, the highest priority was always to promote the welfare of the children/adults and to protect them from harm. For me every person has always been equal, never treated different. Everyone has the same chance to access services, which met their particular needs. I have been working with children and adults with different Special Education Needs as well as with those from other countries. I did try to meet their needs as well as I could, trying to protect them from abuse regardless of their disability, ethnicity or beliefs. Whatever my actions have been I always tried to promote and protect the welfare of children/young people and the most important to protect them from harm. For me Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. For many years I worked at Barnfield Residential Home (United Response) in Luppitt (Honiton) before it closed down. My work involved supporting residents with daily activities, such as shopping, excursions, personal care, medication administration, preparing meals. I have achieved a good standard of education in all subjects including mathematics and English, combined with advanced educational studies, as shown by my postgraduate qualifications. I should add that, although I have studied at foreign universities, my primary language is English, whether for speaking or writing. I have dual language skills in English, Russian, and Polish and therefore have high communication skills, . In addition I have a basic knowledge of the Makaton communication method.
