I look to provide the kind of support you would expect from a good friend. After a 30 year career spanning all sectors of adult social care, I have come to realise that the relationship between client and carer is key and when done right, benefits both parties far more than the most eloquent care plan. This is the basis on which I build your support, as a friend who will share your interests, find ways to achieve your goals and not be afraid to say “you are wrong” if I believe so. I have experience with learning difficulties, autism, mental health issues, dementia, end of life care, support for elderly people and for carers. My background includes over twenty years with Somerset County Council, adult social care department in both residential and supported living environments. In addition to this, I have worked for various private companies in the care sector, including 7 years as a community mental health worker for a small, Wellington based charity. I became a care ‘micro provider’ in 2019 and am accredited by the Somerset County Council scheme. I am now semi retired, but like to maintain a small and manageable client base because I can still make a difference to peoples lives.
