Growing Space provides space for plants and people to grow in harmony! We strive to give more people the chance to benefit from the healing power of nature. We accomplish this through:
Wellbeing:
We offer casual, laid-back weekend gardening sessions. These Stay & Garden sessions are a great way to get outdoors and socialise in a relaxed and recreational environment. We welcome families and participants of all ages, so feel free to bring the kids along!
Gardening is a form of light exercise, and the repetitive motions – pruning, digging – can be calming and meditative, boosting our mood, as many studies show. The Growing Space locations are edible teaching gardens so you might even get to take home fresh veggies and herbs.
Special Events:
We love to host special events and workshops, many of them for free! Families love our yearly Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Pumpkin Carving, and Eco-Christmas Crafts events. Plus, come along to one of our Family Gardening Days and seasonal working bees. Discover our calendar – there’s something for everyone.
My Mini Growing Space:
Our fully funded project helps you to create your own Mini Growing Space – it can be a disused plot or derelict space, an outdoor space at your place of work or home, or a shared garden or balcony – no space is too big or small. Pascale from Growing Space will support you through the 5-step process from checking out the site, to picking the right plants, to planning events in your new community space if you so wish! Learn more and apply here.
Volunteering & Work Experience:
Beyond our weekly Stay & Garden sessions we offer more structured volunteer positions, as well as work experience and internships. Several young people have completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer hours with us. We also love to partner with organisations for office volunteering days – a fantastic way to meet ESG goals, encourage team bonding, boost morale and wellbeing, and give back to the community. Drop us a line – even a single sentence – telling us what you’re interested in and let’s connect!
