Handy Helpers and Companionship

Availability information last updated: 15th May, 2025

Hello, my name is Claire and if you feel I can help you or a loved one around the home or out and about, please get in touch.

I am happy to pop to the shops to pick up groceries/prescriptions etc.

Fill in forms and arrange appointments

Pop a wash on and hang it out to dry

Run the hoover around the house and carry out light cleaning duties

Make a spot of lunch or pop the kettle on for a brew and a natter

I love helping with jigsaws or more challenging, a crossword

Maybe you would like a shopping trip of your own, take in a movie, have a day out or meet with friends you haven’t seen for a while.  I would be more than happy to help arrange and accompany you to these.

But if you feel I have missed something off the list and would like my help, just let me know and we will soon have it organised!

Over the past few years, I have seen first-hand how loneliness can have a huge impact on a loved one’s life and how the recent Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of social interaction with others.

Feeling helpless to be able to help my dad during lockdowns, due to him living far away, I turned my focus to see how I could help others closer to home.  It wasn’t long before I was baking cakes for the neighbours, having chats over the fence and picking up shopping.

I loved the feeling of doing ‘my bit’ for others and was genuinely surprised by how these small gestures made a difference to someone’s day.  Needless to say, the idea of ‘Handy Helpers and Companionship’ was born!!!
