My name is Rachel and I run Helping Hands Home and Garden Services, Biggleswade.

I enjoy helping people and doing what I can to make their lives better and easier – I specialise in working with the elderly and disabled.

Would you like someone to assist you with your personal admin such as form-filling, letter writing or making phone calls?
Do you care for someone and need a break to have some time to yourself knowing your loved one is being looked after?
Would you like a companion to chat to and go out and about with or to stay in and do puzzles, read to you or even sing and play piano with you?!
Do you have a garage, shed or cupboard you need decluttering and re-organising?
Are there household chores like cleaning windows, changing bedding, washing up or hanging out laundry which you need help with?
Do you want someone to tidy up your garden and keep it weed-free or maybe to paint your fence or shed?

I am happy to help you with a range of tasks to enable you to live your best life in your own home.

For 2 years during the pandemic I worked as an activities coordinator in a care home. I left to become a carer for my grandmother, so I have completed safeguarding training and have a lot of experience of working with the elderly, including those with a dementia.
I am also a volunteer and befriender for Biggleswade Good Neighbours.

Whether you need someone to help with a one-off task or require a regular visit, please get in touch. I am friendly, reliable, accept payment with Central Bedfordshire care vouchers and I am happy to help!

Please note that as I don’t drive I can only work in Biggleswade. I don’t do personal care, general housework, such as vacuuming or cleaning bathrooms, and I can only work in smoke-free homes.

Rachel has been helping my Mother on a regular basis for the last year or so. As a proudly independent 90 year old with a determination to continue to do as much as she can herself, Rachel provides support with some of the more challenging tasks around the home and garden. Mum enjoys Rachel’s companionship and looks forward to her visits, which also provide assurance to my sister and I that she has regular contact with a wider group within her community. I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough.

Rachel has been supporting my parents for over 2 years. She initially visited them to help with maintaining the garden. Over time she has been an invaluable part of their lives. She is honest, friendly, reliable and extremely supportive and caring. Rachel has turned her hand to on line shopping, ordering prescriptions and letter writing. Anything to enable my parents to remain in their own home. My parents wouldn’t want to be without Rachel and they have formed a close bond but it also gives me reassurance & a confidence that she helps my parents in any way she can.

Rachel has been coming as a companion for my husband on a weekly basis for the last two years. She is reliable, conscientious and dedicated. As his needs have changed through his dementia, so Rachel has adapted, from going for a walk in the beginning, to singing, dancing, reading to him or just telling him about her day. My husband is pleased to see Rachel and to have her one to one attention. She has been a great support for me too and will do what she can to enable me to have some time out. I highly recommend Rachel.
