Personal care,

I have provided support as a support worker for the last 4 years and it is genuinely the best job I have ever had.

I decided to take the plunge, leave the care company I worked for, and go down the self-employed route, mostly because the hours I was working were just getting to a point where they weren’t sustainable anymore. I also felt strongly about providing a person-centred approach to care, which can often be overlooked when working for an agency.

I have worked with a wide variety of people, enabling them to get out into the community and explore their interests. I have also provided care to clients needing more support e.g. hoisting, PEG feeding, personal care, help with feeding, bathing, etc.

I would say I specialise in working with autistic people. I have found working with autistic clients interesting and rewarding. I have had the most fun helping them live their best lives. Outside of work, I have completed my NCFE Level 2 and Level 3 certificates in Understanding Autism and my NCFE Level 2 certificate in Mental Health First Aid. I have also completed my Care Certificate.

Last year, I set up a sign language group at No Limits cafe. We meet in Newton Abbot every Monday at noon. It is free to attend, so if you ever want to meet me in person, please feel free to come along. It is suitable for complete beginners, those who are more advanced, and everything in between.

I’m really good at paperwork and helping to bridge the gaps that can seem like a massive hurdle when someone wants to, for instance, get involved, for example, if they would like to get involved with a CIC.

I don’t really know what else to say, but yeah, if you are interested in asking more or want to meet, please contact me… or just pop into No Limits and say hello.

All the best, Max Gore.
