Maya’s Community Support Centre

This provider has yet to add availability information.

Maya started collecting donated clothes items at her community support centre to assist the families settling from the Ukraine. This has spread to an entire shop of clothes, toys, bedding, blankets, beds, tents and bric a brac all donated and available for free. The concept of a free shop is unique and popular, especially given the cost of living crisis. It reduces waste and brings the community together to support one another.  Works on a no registration basis. Maya runs a no judgement policy to ensure that those who are perhaps embarrassed or too shy to ask for help are not put off or turned away

As well as the free shop and food bank Maya’s Community Support Centre has opened a furniture bank / electrical bank (all PAT tested) / Baby bank and mobility bank whereby people clearing out larger items of furniture can donate to the community

The FREESHOP runs from Unit 3 Herne Bay West Industrial Park, Sea Street, Herne Bay, CT6 8JZ which is a 4,000 square foot warehouse.  It is open Monday – Saturday 9am – 3pm.  The surplus food bank runs 365 days a year at 9pm where food from M&S , Sainsburys, Tesco’s, Co-op, Aldi, Pret and Cornish Bakery are available to any who need food.  Sunday at 6pm we also run a surplus food bank in Canterbury at Cityspace 47 Northgate , Canterbury, CT1 1BE.
