My name is Lyndon and for much of my life, I have been a keen fisherman.
As a vocation, I believe that spending 1-2 hours by a river or lake could really be of benefit to individuals young and old who may have challenging issues. I have taken family members and friends (including a group with visual impairments), and I have seen the benefits of this outdoor activity on individuals looking for a local pursuit.
I am promoting a therapeutic intervention that will enhance mental well-being whilst embracing their natural environment. This is a person-centred approach tailored to meet individual needs.
The sessions will also develop a practical skill whilst learning an engaging outdoor pursuit. This will tap into their visual and kinesthetic senses which could provide the environment to stimulate their auditory experiences whilst learning to fish.
The 1-2 hour sessions of fishing with all of the required equipment for this great outdoor activity. This will include course of fly-fishing and for those who may have mobility issues, I can also provide fly-tying in the home or at an indoor facility.
Fresh research has underlined the far-reaching well-being benefits that angling can offer.
The new academic paper, which was undertaken by Anglia Ruskin University could-ease-severe-mental-health-issues shows that in addition to reducing the symptoms of depression, fishing boosts individuals’ social connections, and helping them deal with anxiety and related conditions.

I grew up fishing the canals and rivers in East and North London. I believe fishing brings organisation, planning, and the great outdoor experience which can only benefit our mental health and enhance our social inclusion and well-being.
