Hi, I’m Helen.
With over 17yrs as a 24/7 unpaid carer — first for my mum, then dad, then my husband — I saw too many gaps in real, flexible respite care. So I created Serenity Respite: a warm, welcoming home in Chester offering respite for families caring for adults with additional needs or mild dementia.
We run joy-filled afternoon sessions from 2–7pm (£75), a mix of activities, homemade cakes and afternoon tea, and a freshly cooked two-course evening meal. Sessions are person-led and flexible — we gently read the room, offering what feels right on the day.
Activities may include:
Baking and creative crafts
Gardening and hanging basket projects
Quizzes, reminiscence games, and storytelling
Gentle movement and sensory trays
Singalongs, music, and laughter therapy
Coffee mornings and film afternoons
Helping with small household tasks for purpose and connection
Our aim is to give carers genuine peace of mind — and the chance to recharge, guilt-free — while their loved-one enjoys a safe, social, and stimulating afternoon in good company.
We accept self-funding and CHC. If you receive DPs or a PB, we happily accept them as pre-payment upon booking — just let us know what you’ve been allocated, and we’ll help work out how it could fund your place with us.
We support adults only. Guests must manage a few steps into the property. Overnight stays are part of our future — for now, we’re starting with flexible afternoons.
Join our waitlist today — we’d love to welcome you.
