Sparkle Supported living

Sparkle Living is a small independent home care provider, and was set up in 2021 and  was registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2023.  The team is supported by Dawn, a Registered Nurse of 25 years working in community, acute medicine and Accident & Emergency settings.

Sparkle Living support adults 18 yrs and above, older people, physical disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and long-term health conditions. We provide personal care, respite care (either recurring or on a one-off basis), live-in care, post-hospital care, sleep-ins, day and overnight care in the event of an emergency and short-term care. We offer a range of home help services as well as a companionship and community service including arranging and attending GP, hospital, dental appointments, sit-in service, social outings, cinema, coffee shop outings, community activities, day trips, visiting friends and family, and an exercise companion for walks, gym, exercise classes, and swimming.

We also support adults with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and social anxiety, as well as more complex conditions such as schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorder and bipolar.

We have a bespoke Mental Health Support Service where our dedicated worker will support individuals to establish a daily routine, develop life skills and social connections, and to engage in activities that will help improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Because of our knowledge and background, we are able to help people understand their mental health, their relapse indicators, and the steps to take to avoid further deterioration and manage their behaviour. We can liaise with professionals and support people in attending local mental health and GP services. We can also support adults with learning disabilities as we have our Autism & Aspergers Support Service.

We are a team of likeminded people who want to make a difference. Monica has joined our team as our Care Coordinator and is passionate about people receiving the right care and support at the right time in a way that truly meets their needs, wants and wishes. Monica has worked as a support worker and adult nurse  in the community for 10 years before moving into management and managing a supported living place for 5 years. For the last 6 years she has been working as a substance misuse recovery worker, most recently with the Children’s Services Family Safeguarding Team. Together we set up Sparkle Living so people living in the Welwyn and Hatfield, North Herts and Stevenage, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead areas can get the personalised care at home, home help, companionship and support in the community they need to remain independent and enjoy a good life.

Please get in touch with Dawn, or Monica to find out more about Sparkle Living and the range of support we can offer.

Areas: Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Knebworth, Stevenage, Essendon, Ware, St Albans, Wheathampstead and Hemel Hempstead.

The team at sparkle living have been amazing! They were all extremely compassionate and supportive when looking after my elderly family member. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for support with a loved one.

Sparkle Living support my Dad, who has dementia. The whole team is dedicated to making sure that Dad is able to live his life to the full and feel normal, unembarrassed and unencumbered by his circumstances. He goes through his life without worries now, and is no longer lonely. Sparkle unobtrusively support him with the sensitive and difficult parts of his care, but cheerfully engage with him too, to the point that Dad forgets they need paying because he regards them as friends. They go above and beyond with things like cleaning, laundry and running small errands. They are also on hand to cover appointments and deal with emergencies. Dad has developed a dislike for eating as part of his dementia and his weight loss was endangering his health. The nursing and support skills of the team and its lead, Monica Sengu, mean that Dad was quickly brought back into a routine, encouraged and supported to eat well. He is healthier, happier and I am no longer worried about him on a daily basis. The admin team is also responsive and helpful, particularly dealing with the requirements of my Dad's bank and its additional security requirements. I am very happy to recommend Sparkle Living and would be happy to talk to prospective clients and their families via Monica.
