I’m Tom! I’ve been gardening and teaching horticulture for 10 years. My passion has always been for the benefits to health and wellbeing that gardening provides. My proudest moments are where I have brought the joy of gardening to those who are struggling with disability, illness and mental ill-health. In fact my first gardening “job” was for my grandma, who took huge pride in her garden and had a great eye for garden design, which I helped her to maintain when she was unable to do so by herself.
I can carry out general maintenance such as mowing, hedges, pruning, planting and weeding, to provide a positive surrounding for those who may struggle to maintain this themselves. I can also design and create sensory gardens and spaces to benefit health and wellbeing.
People have a lot of pride in their gardens, so I can also provide “companion gardening” where I can support you to garden alongside me. Working together to look after your space is a great way to keep mind and body active.
I’m happy to help with odd jobs around the house, decluttering, and just have a cup of tea and a chat to provide companionship.
I also deliver sessions for groups at community venues or care and residential homes, teaching gardening skills and the history and traditions around particular plants. I can support groups to develop the garden spaces in their surroundings, and can work to maintain those spaces myself.
