Practical support. Everyday help. Your way.

Hello, I’m Samantha—please call me Sam. If you want to stay independent but could use a little extra help, or family can’t always be there, I offer friendly companionship and practical help at home and in the community.

I named The Dorothy Way after my Nan, Dorothy. Caring for her taught me how much kindness, familiar routines, a good chat and doing things your own way matter. These everyday moments shape the support I offer.

I’m a patient, practical and positive self-employed carer, with around 10 years of care experience and 18 years improving care services. I’ve supported older people, autistic people and people with learning disabilities, dementia, physical disabilities and mental health needs. I follow your lead, helping you keep doing what you enjoy and finding ways to try new things together.

Ways I can help:

Together or for you, whatever suits you best.

Company, crafts, baking, walks.

Shopping, appointments, outings, transport confidence and volunteering.

Meals, light housework and laundry.

Getting ready for your day and evening routines.

Decluttering, organising and everyday paperwork.

Simple gardening, practical tasks and help with pets.

Company while family carers take a break.

Essential bits:

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate.
Public Liability Insurance up to £5 million.
Registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Member of Care Professional Organisation and ILG PA.
Procedures, paperwork and training available to view when we meet.

The Dorothy Way provides weekly help to keep me on top of light household jobs. The work is carried out to a very high standard and the worker is very pleasant and friendly. I would certainly recommend using The Dorothy Way.

Sam, looked after & cared for my mum who is 90, whilst we took a much-needed holiday abroad. Sam was on call, telephoned, visited and looked after my mum’s every need. She also kept me fully updated whilst I was away, this ensured I was able to relax and know someone was there if needed. Honestly Sam is so engaging, reliable and trustworthy in every sense, without her this would not have been possible. I can only thank her so very much and recommend her services to all. Mum got on with her also so well. Thanks again.
