Enhance care with Welsh

The National Centre for Learning Welsh offers a ‘Croeso’ taster course specifically designed for health and social care professionals. This free digital course introduces simple yet essential Welsh words and phrases to help staff greet and welcome individuals in Welsh. By engaging with the course, participants can build confidence in using the language, fostering a more inclusive environment for Welsh-speaking service users and their families. The initiative aligns with the Welsh Government’s ‘More than Just Words’ strategy, which aims for all health and social care staff to achieve a courtesy level of Welsh by 2027. Embracing even a little Welsh (‘tipyn bach’) can make a significant difference in service delivery, demonstrating respect and cultural sensitivity to Welsh-speaking individuals. Health and social care professionals are encouraged to embark on this language journey to better serve their communities.
