The Voice of Older People

Would you like to have your voice heard on important decisions affecting older people in Gloucestershire, and help shape the future?

Gloucestershire’s Older Person’s Association (GOPA) and Age UK Gloucestershire have a joint commitment to working with older people in Gloucestershire. They are talking to older people across Gloucestershire and want to understand and learn from you.

They want to hear about:

  • Your experiences, recognising the invaluable insight you bring to decision-making.
  • The aspects of life that matter the most to you.
  • The community where you live, enabling them to recognise areas where your influence can be most effective.
  • Who you believe should hear, respect, and reflect your voice in their decision-making processes.

Get involved

If you are aged 50 years or over and live in Gloucestershire, you can join in with the ‘Voice of Older People’ and become a powerful advocate for older people in your community.

What will this involve?

From time to time, you’ll be invited to share your thoughts and views on a variety of topics, helping them shape a better future for older people in Gloucestershire.

This could involve taking part in focus groups or completing questionnaires, either for Age UK Gloucestershire or other local organisations interested in seeking your thoughts and views. You can join in as much or as little as you like. There’s no cost involved at any stage, and you’ll never be expected to pay to take part in any activity.

Their commitment to you

When you take part in the Voice of Older People, they will:

  • Engage with you to understand your challenges and opportunities so that they can ensure they represent your voice.
  • Respond to public sector requests for insights to help shape their proposals and make better decisions.
