After four impactful years of local support through Community Catalysts, the Community Catalysts project in Wrexham is now transitioning to being supported by Wrexham County Borough Council. There will be no local Catalyst supporting micro-enterprises but Community Catalysts are working with Wrexham Council to investigate other potential support.
The Community Catalysts Wrexham project began during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of helping individuals to set up small, local enterprises that provide care and support within their communities.
Since it started, more than 90 community micro-enterprises have been developed through the project. These enterprises have offered a wide range of services from personalised home care to local groups and activities, all helping residents to remain independent and supported in their own homes for longer. The work has shown the strength and potential of people and communities coming together to care for one another in meaningful ways. Micro-enterprises have shown a commitment to help people live the good life.
Wrexham County Borough Council will continue to offer support to both existing and new community micro-enterprises. Anyone interested in finding out more, or who has any questions about the support available, is welcome to get in touch by emailing contractsasc@wrexham.gov.uk.
