The Community Catalysts team in Cardiff  has been helping older and disabled adults to live their best lives.

Sam Walker, Community Enterprise Catalyst, tells us about the team’s activity in the community to make this happen.

Boosting support with direct payment rate increase

One recent and significant milestone is the increase in the direct payment rate to £18.45. This increase means more financial support for those who need it, which allows them to access high-quality, personalised services from our network of community micro-enterprises. These small micro-enterprises are dedicated to providing tailored care and support, and ensure everyone can receive the support they need, when they need it.

Expanding the Small Good Stuff directory

Our Small Good Stuff directory has been growing and now boasts a double-figure amount of micro-enterprises in the Cardiff area. Small Good Stuff is a valuable place to find local entrepreneurs who offer diverse services tailored to meet individual needs. And the number of services listed continues to grow day by day.

Engaging with the community

We’ve been out and about networking with organisations in the area and sharing the word about the Small Good Stuff directory.

We went along to the Cardiff and Vale College Summer Enterprise and Volunteer Fayre. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and share what we do on the Community Catalysts Development Programme.

We also attended the Gofod3 event at Cardiff City Stadium where we connected with several wonderful organisations that are building connections in the local community.

Inspiring entrepreneurs with workshops

I recently held a number of successful ‘Pitch Perfect’ workshops titled, ‘Mastering marketing with enterprise success’. These workshops covered marketing strategies, pitching techniques, confidence building and video marketing. It was a way for entrepreneurs to network, and boost their confidence and public speaking skills. By the end of the workshop, even the quietest person in the room lost their fear of speaking in front of a group!

Building connections through community events

We recently held a coffee afternoon in collaboration with Cardiff Council and Dewis. Enterprises met with people who draw on support in a relaxed and friendly environment. Business Wales also presented information about available grants and support, which was much appreciated. And of course, there were delicious cakes and fruit to enjoy!

Join us on this journey

We are excited about the future and the positive impact we’re making in the Cardiff community. Whether you’re an older or disabled adult, or someone looking to support our cause, we welcome you to join us on this journey. Together, we can help everyone live their best lives!

Thank you for your continued support.
