Today we launch a creative workshop, Thinking Outside the Box, which has been designed to support adult social care teams, health care teams, and community and voluntary organisations to rethink how to create healthier and more connected lives and neighbourhoods.
Thinking Outside the Box provides an immersive experience for people to explore, identify and understand the strengths or assets in their neighbourhoods and communities, and to come up with new ideas to put into practice. This will help create good lives for people.
Emma Geldart, Programme Manager at Community Catalysts commented:
“Thinking Outside the Box is a truly eye-opening workshop. It’s great to see people immerse themselves in the fictional neighbourhood, then listen to them talk and create actions about how they will take that learning into the real world – sparking fresh thinking about strengths-based, community-led approaches. It’s such an adaptable workshop and tool that helps shine a light on the gifts, talents, and potential of people and communities.”
We recently teamed up with Darlington Borough Council’s Adult Social Care teams to bring their vision of asset-based working to life.
As part of the work, we co-designed and facilitated a series of workshops using Thinking Outside the Box. It resulted in a creative and immersive exercise that helped people challenge and rethink traditional care approaches. Participants could imaginatively explore a community’s strengths – the people, networks and local resources. The workshops sparked debate and conversation, as well as fresh perspectives on the role of Adult Social Care in supporting healthier, more connected lives and communities.
Watch a short video which provides perspectives from members of the adult social care teams:
We were delighted with the response from colleagues in Darlington, which was overwhelmingly positive.
It’s given us the opportunity to pause and think about what we’re doing really well, but also what we could do better.
I would definitely recommend working with Community Catalysts.
We’re eager to work with other organisations who want to rethink their approaches. Have a conversation with us.
