How do we change the lives of people who rely on the social care system?

With Powering Possibilities CIC, we’re contributing to an online conversation on 3 December (12.30-1.50pm) on thinking differently about how adult social care.

You will hear from Sue and Malcolm Blackwell, parents of Dr (h.c.) Jen Blackwell BEM, multi-award-winning dance leader. Together with Jen, Sue and Malcolm co-founded DanceSyndrome, a unique organisation created with people with learning disabilities that supports them to lead. Today it reaches over 10,000 people a year. Sue and Malcolm refused the ceilings others set for Jen and have used direct payments to enable her to lead the life of her choosing, including living independently. Malcolm brings 35 years’ expertise leading complex international businesses, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. Sue is the co-author of Beyond Extraordinary: Who are you missing?, which will be released in November.

Helen Allen, Director of Community Micro-enterprise at Community Catalysts, will speak about helping people, including people with a disability, to set up community micro enterprises using their skills, passion and local community assets.
