Our purpose

People who draw on care and support tell us that they find it difficult to live a life that works for them. Traditional care and support options, while necessary, are limited and stretched. The evidence also tells us that:

• The demand for health and care services is growing exponentially across all communities.
• Systems for meeting need are overwhelmed and on an unsustainable course.
• Health inequalities between different groups of people and places are increasing.

Preventive, community-based support is not prioritised enough as part of the solution.

Our strategic aims and priorities

1. Create choice and control for people – we will ensure that people can choose from diverse and flexible care and support that is personalised – support that works for them.
2. Put people’s strengths and talents first – we will support the creation of a world where people can use their own skills and talents to achieve their vision of a good life. 
3. Actively listen to people’s voices – we will work with public sector bodies and organisations to include the voices of people in shaping service design and delivery.
4. Innovate for a positive future – we will help policy makers, public sector bodies and organisations to create an environment that supports and encourages innovative practice and solutions.
