Woodcraft for Wellbeing

My name is Dan Rees and I have recently received my certificate in Adult mental health and Wellbeing in the outdoors. After working as a teacher for 15 years and running a forest school for children for the last two years, I have decided to set up my own micro business to help adults experience the same joy that I see with children everyday.

I am looking to start up a group for adults who may suffer from mental health problems, want to take sometime to look after their wellbeing or are simply interested in the benefits of being out in the woods and playing. I know letting someone else in and sharing your personal experiences might be daunting, even more so in a group situation. There will be no pressure to talk about anything you are not comfortable with and my aim will be that all participants leave with at least some proven mindfulness strategies, some new wood crafting skills and hopefully a few new friendships. Mutual respect, a sense of adventure and curiosity are my main values.

We will meet in a woodland and over a six week course, we will learn some mindfulness skills, practise some ‘woodcraft for wellbeing’ activities, have a chat and cook over the campfire. If you’ve ever heard of forest school, this is my version for adults!
