Jacky has been supported by her local Catalyst as part of the Kent Community Enterprise Project. The support from Community Catalysts has enabled Jacky to:

• ensure that her existing community enterprise – D’Vine Singers – is safe and legal
• ensure she has all the relevant policies and procedures in place
• promote her offer on social media and to practitioners and stakeholders in the local area

A friendly group that meets weekly to sing, with a focus on wellbeing

Jacky is a professional choir leader who, together with Nicola, set up D’Vine Singers which began life in 2014 as part of a funded research study into singing and mental health. Since then, the group has continued to thrive and grow with Jacky now leading community choirs across Kent.

Jacky is committed to creating an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels supported and, as a member of the British Kodaly Academy and the Natural Voice Network, shares their core ethos that everyone deserves the chance to sing…and that this is what binds communities together!

Although D’Vine Singers mostly sing for their own enjoyment (and mental wellbeing, of course!), they are sometimes invited to perform at local events, such as markets and festivals in the Sevenoaks area. They also love singing in local dementia cafes and care homes and have been asked to perform at some prestigious venues, including the Great Hall at Knole House. Taking part in these performances is optional but people often say they get “a buzz” out of these occasions and look forward to them.
