Alex is CEO of Community Catalysts which creates opportunities for people to thrive in healthy, caring communities, through building Community & Micro-enterprise to transform social care support and Local Area Coordination to transform prevention.
He is a Trustee of Alternative Futures Group and a Human Learning Systems associate. Previous roles include being CEO of Shared Lives Plus, the UK network for Shared Lives and Homeshare and a Delivery Director for the public service consultancy IMPOWER. He sat on the NHS Assembly, chaired the government’s review of health and care charities (2015-18), the Social Care Learning Disability & Autism Advisory Group and co-founded the Social Care Innovation Network. Alex Vice-chaired Think Local, Act Personal, developing the Asset Based Area model and leading their building communities work. He was a Trustee at the Social Care Institute for Excellence. He is one of NESTA and The Observer’s Britain’s New Radicals.
Alex was awarded an OBE for services to social care in the 2016 New Year’s honours list.
