Kemi is the Community Catalyst for the Vale of Glamorgan in beautiful South Wales. She trained as a nurse & worked in many specialities including orthopaedic, neurology and care of the elderly in London, Norfolk and Wales. She always enjoyed working with different client groups, developing choice and independence. She transferred her clinical skills and knowledge to Tertiary educational settings across South Wales teaching on a range of health related courses. Working with young people especially those who may have become disengaged from education was such a positive experience. Helping the students to reconnect with education and work placements experiences. An opportunity arose for Kemi to take on the role as the National Health & Social Care Facilitator working in partnership with Wales Council for Voluntary Action and the Welsh Parliament where she assisted the voluntary sector in shaping the delivery of health, social care & well-being strategies. The partnership working gave her valuable experience in working across all sectors and great to see what could be achieved when partnership working is effective in bringing change for communities and working creatively in a problem solving approach. By travelling across Wales she was able to identify the uniqueness of different geographical areas from coast, countryside and cities.
Kemi diversified completely to become a small business owner for over 20 years in the catering and hospitality sector. People have always been at the core of her working life and she hopes that these experiences will be essential in supporting Micro Enterprises across the Vale of Glamorgan.
In her spare time she loves visiting new places and trying new cuisines. Kemi is a disco diva and loves a kitchen disco.
