Suffolk

Supporting local developments by increasing real choice of highly personal local care and support options.

Focus on supporting older people by working with local people who want to develop a new enterprise or venture that offers highly personal homecare/help at home or support in the community. As well as helping people to set up new enterprises, Community Catalysts can advise established small groups and organisations that want to diversify or extend what they offer. A partnership with Suffolk Council, the project aims to increase the care options for older people and increase the opportunities for people who might take a Direct Payment. Work started in the Waveney district and has now extended across the County.

As part of the project, we have developed a directory to showcase community enterprises in the local area.

“Suffolk County Council’s ‘People at the heart of care’ strategy focuses on working in a personalised way with people who require care and support. Suffolk County Council recognises the strength of a diverse and agile care market which includes empowering residents to choose the best solutions that support them in achieving the quality of life that they want. Community Catalysts promote choice for people via community micro- enterprises and encourages people to understand how they can use ‘Small Good Stuff’ to identify people living and working within those communities.”
